SERVICE TO SOCIETY
Transport Corporation of India (TCI) belives in the philosophy of making life better for all.
And along with the core businesses, TCI has instituted some Charitable Trusts. They are
dedicated to socio-economic transformation of rural and remote areas of India, especially
the weaker and socially underprivileged groups. They provide physical, social, cultural and
economic development of rural people, groups and institutions. Late Shri. Prabhu Dayal
Agarwal, a well-known philanthropist and the late founder Chairman of TCI established
Bhoruka Charitable Trust in the year 1962. This trust is involved in integrated rural
development activities in 200 villages of Rajgarh and 50 villages of Taranagar blocks of
Churu district in Rajasthan. The various aspects of the charitable activities are outlined
below.
TCI Foundation, the social wing of TCI takes forward the group's belief in partnering with
the society at large with the aim of making the lives of people better. TCIF, has taken
initiatives to open schools and dispensaries for the economically weaker section of the
society.
TCIF also renders help in forming SHGs (Self Help Groups) for woman and child
development programs in interior parts of India. Its much acclaimed Project “Kavach”, a
nation wide AIDS awareness campaign with Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, has been
much appreciated. TCI Foundation is also active in the area of disaster relief assistance and
provides artificial limbs, crutches, wheelchairs for the physically challenged.
