Dear AP Art History Students:

Welcome to my class! In order to maintain a positive learning environment in which we

can all work together to achieve success, please become familiar with and adhere to the
following classroom guidelines and procedures.
CLASS PREPARATION
1.) Enter and leave the room quietly and, when the bell rings, sit in your assigned seat.
At the end of class, I will dismiss you, not the bell. When you are ready to be
dismissed, please be in your seat waiting until I give you permission to leave.
2.) Come prepared with your binder, spiral notebook, highlighters, a pen and pencil, your
Annotated Mona Lisa book, and any other materials needed for class, and be ready to
begin working as soon as attendance has been taken. While attendance is being
taken, please turn in your homework, take the next homework assignment, and
remove any graded assignments in your file folder from the organizer on the
bookcase in the front of the room. Also, please use the 5 minutes in between classes
for bathroom and locker stops. If you must leave the classroom, please do so only
with my permission. Also, you must present your own student handbook, or an escort
will be called. Non-emergency locker or bathroom passes will be documented. A
student who is observed taking an excessive amount of passes to leave class, will be
referred to the deans office for further disciplinary action.
3.) Gum, candy, or food or drink is not allowed in this class, with the exception of water
bottles. Water bottles should not be out on the tables, but instead capped and stored
on the floor next to the students.
4.) Remember that back packs, purse packs, book bags, duffle bags, jackets, coats or hats
are not allowed in class. Also, other personal items such as cellular phones, pagers,
radios, CD players, headphones and i-pods are not allowed out and/or visible in class.
These electronic devices will be confiscated and given to the dean.
5.) Remember to follow the guidelines for appropriate school attire. If you are not
dressed properly, you will be sent to the PPS center. Please remember to wear
your I.D. around your neck on a EPCHS lanyard.
6.) In order to be excused for arriving late, please present a note from the faculty or staff
member who detained you (signed, dated, and with the time you left).
7.) If you have been absent, be responsible by finding out from me what you missed,
preferably at the beginning of class.
CLASS CONDUCT
1.) Show a respectful and courteous attitude towards yourself, your teacher, and others.
Avoid negative comments or put-downs.
2.) Keep your language and topics of conversation positive and appropriate. Inappropriate
language will result in a referral.
3.) Please keep your hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
4.) Please walk garbage over to the garbage can to dispose of it. Nothing should ever be
thrown in class.
5.) Please be respectful by paying attention while I am speaking or presenting
information. Please listen while your classmates are speaking as well. That includes
the P.A. announcements. Please raise your hand and wait in order to be recognized.
Please refrain from calling attention to yourself; it interrupts learning for others.
7.) Working on an assignment for another class is only allowed with my permission.

MAKE-UP WORK/TESTS
1.) Please make every effort to be present everyday.
2.) Absence on a school day prior to a test does not excuse you from the test.
3.) Tests will be made up, after school, within 3 days upon your return to class.
4.) I am available for make-up tests, conferences, and extra help after school until at
least 4:00. A convenient time for both of us will be arranged.
* Violations of most of the above guidelines for class preparation and class conduct will
be met with the following consequences:
1st Time = Warning
2nd Time = 15 minute detention with teacher/conference
3rd Time = 30 minute detention with teacher and phone call home to parents/guardians
4th Time = Referral to dean
SEVERE CLAUSE = Referral to deans office immediately
* NOTE: Please do not hesitate to come to me for assistance any time you need help
or there is something that you do not understand. I will be more than happy
to help you.
