General Assembly First Committee
Sponsors: Afghanistan
Signatories: TBD
Topic: "Missile Defense Systems (ABMs)"
The General Assembly,
Highlighting that one of the most discussed concerned is that countries demande an adequate way of
defending themselves in case of the need to do so,
Emphasizing that the UN is committed to maintaining international peace and security,

developing friendly relations among nations and promoting social progress, better living
standards and human rights, as stated in Article 1 of Chapter I of the UN Charter,To maintain
international peace and security, and to that end: to take effective collective measures for the
prevention and removal of threats to the peace, and for the suppression of acts of aggression or
other breaches of the peace, and to bring about by peaceful means, and in conformity with the
principles of justice and international law, adjustment or settlement of international disputes or
situations which might lead to a breach of the peace,
Noting with deep concern that our country, among many others, do not have the financial
resources as other do to invest in nuclear weaponry, but still find themselves caught in conflicts
that seriously endanger their citizens and country,
Realizing that international wars with weapons of mass destructions could ultimately end the
human race and taking further note that the two nuclear warheads that were the only use of nuclear
weapons for warfare in human history, killed at least 129,000 people, injured many more, many of which
died from cancers caused by the radiation released from the droppings, and made countless more
homeless and harshly impacted the surrounding area and environment,

Noting further that countries with the most nuclear power have much leverage over other
countries, while those without are put at the mercy of others,
Reaffirms the conclusion that ABMs will provide an efficient route of defense resulting in
drastically reducing the chances of nuclear war, chances that we can further reduce by placing
ABMs in more countries.
1. Emphasizes the need for the development of a new branch of the World Bank
dedicated to provide a financial recourse to projects pertaining to the elimination of
global violence;

2. Condemns the act of producing, stockpiling, and using biological, toxic, nuclear
and other weapons of mass destruction without the discretion of other countries;
3. Highly encourages the proper elimination and disposal of all biological, toxic,
nuclear, and other weapons of mass destruction by creating global facilities dedicated to
these very purposes, paid for by countries who currently are in possession of nuclear
weapon and are in need of the facility, construction costs will vary by the percentages of
total nuclear warheads, annual costs paid for by the World Bank;
4. Calls upon public documentation of ready arms (ABMS) by making it a part of
treaties that are related to said topic.
