Classroom Expectations are essential to a conducive learning environment.
Students have the right to learn, and the teacher has the right to teach. Anything
that interferes with the learning environment is a problem.
Be on time (Responsibility) Your stuff is not you!
Be prepared for class - Student handbook, paper, pencil, pen.
Respect others and their right to learn. Its all about Humanity! No profanity
(my
judgment). $.25 fine / obscenity.
No food or drink, unless specifically approved by the teacher and NEVER
during lab!!
Attendance/Participation
It is important that you take on the responsibility to contact me to find out what
to do and to excuse any absences. I expect if you are in school the day after you
are absent, you come see me to get make-up work, even if you dont have me
for class that day. Every effort should be made to complete work missed
during the absence so that students do not fall behind in their studies. Students
are responsible for all work missed. (RHS Student Handbook; pg. 10) Have a
plan!!!
Tardies & Personal Breaks You are tardy if you are outside the classroom
when the
door is closed or Ive started taking attendance. 1st & 2nd tardy = Freebies. You
will serve lunch detention the following day for each tardy after #2. No one will
leave during the first 15 and last 15 minutes of class. In between this time you
may use the restroom (only one person at a time).
Grades Use Powerschool to monitor your grades on a regular basis. Grade

Students: I am looking forward to a great school year! Your success is very

important to me. Please let me know if you are having any problems.
Note to parents: Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions or
concerns. You are also welcome to visit your childs class at any time.

Grading Policy
Your grade will be based on participation, projects and tests/quizzes (Homework
may be given out at the teachers discretion). Attendance is of the utmost
importance; there will be negative consequences (which may include a lower
grade) for excessive absences, both excused and unexcused. After 5

unexcused absences, the school will formally notify you and your parents
that you are in danger of being denied credit for the class. Ten unexcused
absences during the course of the year and you will not receive credit for
this course. (RHS Student Handbook; pg. 12)
Homework: Homework may be given out at the teachers discretion. Its my
goal to have all the material reviewed and projects completed during class
time!
Tests/Quizzes: Test dates will be given to the students in advance so they can
ensure their attendance on those days. Make-up tests will not be allowed,
although a student may take a test in advance of the scheduled test day.
Retakes: There will be a limited number of opportunities to retake certain quizzes
and to improve upon a grade received on a project.
Projects: Projects are in-class assignments extending over multiple class days.
Students are encouraged and allowed to work on their projects outside of class
time as well.
