FLORES STATEMENT ON DECEPTIVE KOCH BROTHERS BACKED LIBRE INITIATIVE FEATURING

SENATOR RAND PAUL IN LAS VEGAS.
LAS VEGAS, NV Lucy Flores, Democratic candidate for Congressional District 4, responds to LIBREs
most recent attempt to deceive the Latino community with an event featuring Senator Rand Paul at
the College of Southern Nevada titled The LIBRE Forum: Unlimited Opportunities in a Free Society.
For too long LIBRE has run wild in Nevada, using deceitful tactics to encourage Latino voters to silence
their voice at the polls, which furthers their counter-productive anti-immigration, anti-Obamacare, and
anti-workers agenda. It's past time for it to stop.
As a community leader, Flores fought alongside immigration, labor and progressive organizations to
ensure LIBRE was not a major sponsor of Las Vegas' Cesar Chavez Day Festival. Chavezs grandson,
Alejandro, joined the fight to protect his grandfathers legacy and ensure LIBREs hypocrisy in trying to
attach their name to a prominent labor leaders namesake, while simultaneously working to end
workers rights, was exposed.
Flores has prioritized pro-immigration reform during her legislative career. As a Nevada state
Assemblywoman for District 28, she co-sponsored legislation urging Congress to enact comprehensive
immigration reform. I am appalled at LIBREs disingenuous propaganda encouraging Latinos to vote
against their own self-interests by deceiving them into supporting policies that are harmful to the
Latino community, said Flores.
In the words of long-time civil rights leader Dolores Huerta, Weve got to let our community know
that Libre, which is funded by the Koch brothers, are not our friends.
Lucy Flores, the daughter of immigrants, grew up in a challenging community in North Las Vegas.
Through her own hard work and the investment of people who believed in her, she earned a GED, and
eventually a law degree from the UNLV Boyd School of Law. Ensuring that every Nevadan has the
opportunity to succeed is what continues to inspire her into public service and why she decided to run
for Congress.
