Geometry in the real world

Point

A point is an exact position or location on a plane

surface. It is important to understand that a point is
not a thing, but a place.I choose this picture because
it show the specified spot of where to go.

LINE

A line is a long, narrow mark that extends

infinitely in two directions.I choose this
picture because it show the line not having
an ending point.

PLANE

A plane is a flat surface with no thickness and

extends infinitely in two dimesions.I choose this
picture because it a flat surface that extends
infinitely.

Segment

A line segment is represented by end points on each

end of the line segment.I choose this picture because
the yellow dotted line has two endpoints.

RAY

a ray is a line with a single endpoint (or point of

origin) that extends infinitely in one direction.I
choose this picture because it shows the sun being
the endpoint while the sun shine extends infinitely.

COLLINEAR POINTS

Three or more points are said to be collinear if they

lie on a single straight line .I choose this picture
because since all these house are on the same block
it like three points being on the same line.

ACUTE ANGLE

An angle that measures less than ninety degrees but

more than zero degrees.I choose this picture
because the tongs are at a 45 degree angle.

OBTUSE ANGLE

An angle that measures more than 90 degrees but

less than 180 degrees.I choose this picture because
the wind generator wings are at an obtuse angle .

RIGHT ANGLE

an angle of 90, as in a corner of a square or at the

intersection of two perpendicular straight lines.I
choose this picture because it shows a 90 degree
angle.

PERPENDICULAR LINES

perpendicular lines are typically indicated with a

small square at the corner of the 90 degree angle.I
choose this picture because it has four right angles
making it a perpendicular lines.

COMPLEMENTARY LINES

They don't have to be next to each other, just so long

as the total is 90 degrees.I choose this picture
because all these angles add up to 90 degrees.

SUPPLEMENTARY ANGLES

Two Angles are Supplementary when they add up to

180 degrees. They don't have to be next to each other,
just so long as the total is 180 degrees.I choose this
picture because if you add up the angles it equals
180.

VERTICAL ANGLES

Vertical Angles are the angles opposite each other

when two lines cross. They are always equal.I choose
this picture because it show a good vertical angle
example.
