Exploring Uranus

BY: AYA, TOBI, SATYO AND ARJUNA

Project Mission
Our role is to be a traveler who have visited many places around
the world. Now we are going to be a space-traveler and visit one of
the planets in the solar system. We need to decide one best way to
get too our destined planet through research, calculate speed,
distance, and time to estimate how long it takes and to find out how
far away the planet is from Earth and use the properties of radicals,
exponents and scientific notation to show how large the planet is.
We are to use ratio and proportion to create a 3D model that
reflects to the actual size and attributes of the Earth and our
destined planet.

Project Focus
Question
HOW CAN YOU EXPRESS THE MAGNITUDE OF URANUS USING THE
USE OF MATH?

Project Hypothesis

There are many ways to express a whole number in another way,

easier and simpler for us to calculate with (like using scientific
notation to express big numbers with). It is easier to calculate
many aspects of planet Uranus through the use of scientific
notation (part of math).

Aside from that, we can calculate the distance, speed and time
regarding the travel to that planet using the help of Math.

Conclusion

Answer of focus question:

You can tell and show the magnitude of a planet using mathematical
aspects, such as simplifying the big numbers expressing Uranuss
size into scientific forms (much simpler). And you also need math
skills (ratio and proportions) to create the model of the planet.

You can easily calculate the speed, time and distance of the travel to
your destined planet with the use of a variety of math skills (ratio,
proportions), showing us the importance od mastering math skills in
daily life (because wherever we go, surely well still use math skills
and such in our daily life).

Reflection

What I felt:

Obstacles or what we struggled with:

We think this project is a nice way of showing how much math can
contribute to our in real life situations. And this improves our skills in
counting, number and operation and other mathematical aspects
(scientific notations, radicals and even ratio)
Creating a nice model of our planet and time management.

The things I need to improve:

We need to be more focused and to be more careful in counting and

looking at numbers.
