Comparing Canadas First Nations

So far this unit we have studied the similarities and differences between three First
Nations groups (Haudenosaunee, Anishinabe, and Mikmaq). For this assignment,
you will be required to research information about the lifestyle, society, and culture
of a different First Nation, and present your findings in an interesting and creative
project.
You may use your textbook for this assignment, as well as the Resources section
under Assignment 2 at www.bcnsocial.weebly.com. Your assignment must answer,
but is not limited to, the following questions:
1. Where did your chosen First Nation live?
2. What was the lifestyle of your chosen First Nation?
a. What types of food did this Nation typically eat?
b. How did people of this Nation collect food?
c. What did the people of this Nation live in?
d. Did the people of this Nation have any special traditions / customs?
3. What was the role of women in this First Nation?
4. How did the people of this Nation make decisions?
There is no set format for this assignment, so you may present your findings in a
variety of different ways, including:
A PowerPoint or Prezi
A Brochure
A Poster
A Scrapbook
A Powtoon
Any other format (Come see me
first)
A Visual Essay
This assignment must be completed individually. You will be given ample time to
work on this assignment. Anything not completed in class will be assigned for
homework.
