Virtual Reality Takes Building Model to

the Next Level

By

As the evolutionary trends continue ,emerging technology are getting

cheaper ,smaller and smarter, all of which push technology to be
more ubiquitous and as technology continue to integrate into our
daily lives through architecture environments they only become more

And in architecture the virtual reality hype took off in 1990s with the
development of computing technology and gaming software.
For architects looking to communicate their design with greater
realism ,an immersive stereoscopic visualisation techniques holds much
appeal that how architecture projects can communicate from simple
drawing or bi dimensional images to real experiences which allows the
client to visit and live the place.

And this virtual reality is far from extinct ,its finally gaming
traction, garnering increased interest from Hollywood as well as military
,aerospace ,medical and gaming industries ,Now architects can use
virtual reality as productive , on the go tool ,untethered from
cumbersome hardware from the past

The most compelling VR applications which augment reality ,laying

invisible or stimulated data on visible world and 3 of these tech savvy
gizmos are the

Oculus rift
Urbaesse project
Google cardbox
Microsofts Hololens

The oculus rift like small 3d gogles ,full Fov wireless ,8k display and
120 fps for the full immersive view of your ideas to give a life

Whereas the Urabesee future superimposes virtual building models to scale

on their proposed site with no headsets or cables required.

MicrosoftHoloLens is the first fully untethered, see-through holographic

computer. It enables high-definition holograms to come to life, seamlessly
integrating with physical places, spaces, and things.. unlocking all-new
ways to create, communicate, work, and play.

Google Cardboard is a virtual reality (VR) platform developed by Google

for use with a fold-out cardboard mount for a mobile phone. It is intended
as a low-cost system to encourage interest and development in VR and VR
applications

The second tech to make more immersive is Haptic technology which

creates sense of touch by applying forces ,vibrations over motions to use , it
is expect this to be in term of contact lenses also in the near future,

Nevertheless , these approaches demonstrate the extent to which

virtual reality ,now freed from darkness recess of the cave is
becoming significantly more aceesible and publicaly visible ,soon
we all may be steeping into our designs
