Materials:
Purple Chromebooks
Circle Geometry Concept Assignment
Peer Evaluation Sheet
Intro: (5 min)
Housekeeping
o Foldables were due yesterday, I still need Cylus, Alex, Marty, Jenny,
Bailey, Savannah
o Also the following will have Friday school for missing assignments:
Bailey, Savannah, Alex, Sophie, Cylus
o Student of the Week: Marissa
Reminder that in tutorial the following will be writing their test, meaning that it
will be silent in the room for those students
o Joey, Clint, Britney, Cylus, Jacey, Brennan, Kade, Sophie, Savannah,
Evelyn
o Students have the option to rewrite the whole test today (going into after
school or they can finish tomorrow)
Assessments:
Body: (50 min)
We are starting a new unit today: Circle Geometry
o What is Circle Geometry? Why do we have to learn this? Does this pertain
to anything that we will be doing in our daily lives?
o Looking at a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ch-R1aIM-C0
It just shows how circle geometry is very intricate and that many
things come from circle geometry (aka Sesame Street)
There are six main terms students need to know in circle geometry: Chord,
Central angle, inscribed angle, arc, perpendicular bisector, and tangent
Looking at the definitions in the book, explaining each term to the students in a
small amount of words
o Chord: a line segment that stretches from one side of the circle to the other
o Arc: a portion of the circumference
o Central Angle: Angle formed by two radii of a circle

o Inscribed angle: An angle formed by two chords that share a common

endpoint
Now the assignment: Students must create a minimum 12 slide presentation on
these 6 terms, they will be in groups for this.
o All group members must participate in this assignment
o Students will all grab a chrome book, one student from their group will
open up a Google slide document and share it with their group members
o Each term must have two slides with specific details (On assignment
sheet)
o They will be marked on participation
o This assignment is due on Wednesday (tomorrow) where each group will
present a term (which term will be decided on Wednesday) meaning the
groups will all need to learn each term well.
o In the presentation all group members must talk and add to their
presentation (aka, they cannot just say hey)
o They can include videos but the presentation cannot be longer than 4
minutes
Students will work on this assignment for the rest of class (it is due tomorrow in
the middle of the class)
Assessments: Google Share document
Closure: (5 min)
Students will share their google slide document with the teacher as well as their
group members
Students that are staying for the test may begin the test asap!
Assessments: Google Share

Circle Geometry Concept Assignment

Purpose:
We are starting a new unit called circle geometry. To introduce the terms we will be
using, I have put you into groups, where your group will create a presentation. The
presentation will be on the 6 main terms we will be learning about in the next couple of
weeks. This is your chance to research and learn about the concepts of circle geometry
before we dive into a more in-depth look.
Requirements:
You will be placed into a group of 3 or 4 where you will research the following terms:
Chord
Central Angle
Inscribed Angle
Arc
Perpendicular Bisector
Tangent
You are allowed to use your textbook or the Internet to research these terms. The
presentation will be on a Google Slide Document, which needs to be shared with me
(capricerosentreter@gmail.com). It needs to be AT LEAST 12 slides or more (that is
about 2 slides per term). Each term must contain the following information:
The definition
How it is used in circle geometry (possibly show examples)
1 or more pictures
An acronym or saying to remember what the term is and how it is used
Once you have completed your presentation, you will present one of the terms to the class
on Wednesday/Thursday (so a good idea is to practice what you would do for each term
in class). Which term you present will be determined on Wednesday by the teacher,
meaning you must know all the terms and be able to explain all terms as a group.
How you will be marked:
The definition (1 mark)
How it is used in circle geometry (possibly show examples) (2 mark)
2 or more pictures (2 marks)
An acronym or saying to remember what the term is and how it is used (1 mark)
Presentation (20 marks)
o You will be evaluated as a group meaning ALL members need to
contribute to the presentation
Peer Evaluation (4 marks)
