Serve as Advisor/Mentor to students from entry to the university until they earn and/or transfer
enough hours to total 31 or more.
Develop and present workshops on advising related issues.
Conduct pre-registration advising sessions for new and continuing students.
Assist with the completion of school related applications, for example, drop/add, change of major,
transient and visiting student forms, etc.
Engage in research and follow-up activities to evaluate the advising component.
Teach the Survival Skills for University Life, ORI 101 course in the fall and spring terms.
Meet with students twice weekly (once during ORI 101 course) to discuss areas of difficulty and
progress.
Make referrals to appropriate agencies on and off campus and does follow-up to ensure students'
needs were met.
Provide guidance in career exploration for undecided majors.
Monitor students' progress weekly using Banner, Blackboard and other modes of communication.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on all students assigned to individual advisor.
Completes monthly student portfolios, tracks student participation in ORI 101 courses, and reports
of advising activities.
Maintain a cooperative and collaborative relationship with academic departments and all
components responsible for student services.
Attends professional development to remain abreast of trends and new approaches to advising.
Serve on University committees as assigned by the Provost.
Assistant Enrollment Counselor04/2014-07/2015

Assigned to the front desk of the MT One Stop to serve as the primary point of contact for students
seeking assistance in initial enrollment, on-going retention and provide general assistance with
transactions related to any of the enrollment services areas.
Essential tasks include: answering general questions and problem solving across all enrollment
management areas that include: bursar, financial aid, academic processes & advising, scheduling,
and records.
Responsible for understanding the interrelationships among these areas; must be able to assess
the student's initial inquiry; discern co-related issues and resolve; or seek the advice/transfer the
student to an Enrollment Counselor for assistance and resolution.
