Family

PURPOSE- As a family we
primarily work on getting closer to
each other, and making sure that
we support one another.
JOINING- You are born into this
discourse community, and you
have no choice of quitting it.
HOW WE COMMUNICATE- We
communicate in person or through
phone. On special occasions like
Christmas and Thanksgiving
everyone travels to Austin or El
Paso so that we are all together.
VOCABULARY- My nicknames
include Peanut, Cupcake, and
Val-girl. Everyone has a
nickname for example they call by
cousin Bear basically because
hes very tall and big. When we
are all together my grandparents
will do this weird thing where they
call all the boys mija, and all the
girls mijo.

Pre-Pharmacy
Student

PURPOSE- As Pre-Pharmacy
Students our ultimate goal is to
get accepted into pharmacy
school and aim for high scores on
the PCAT.
JOINING-To become a PrePharmacy student or a Co-Op
student at UTEP, you have to get
admitted into UTEP. Specifically
for the Co-Op program you have
to make a separate application

Advant-Edge
Pharmacy

PURPOSE- Our Purpose is to

distribute the correct medications
and make the patient/customer
happy.
JOINING- For this discourse
community you have to go
through an application process.
The requirements for the job are a
high school diploma and a
pharmacy technician certification.
After completing the application,
the background check, and the
drug test you have to pass the
interview. Once you get hired and
go through training you are
officially part of this discourse
community.
HOW WE COMMUNICATE- We
communicate in person or through
phone calls.
VOCABULARY- My nickname here
is Trouble as in here comes
trouble. Terms include- scripts,
compounds, Medicaid, Lorazepam,
Class, NDC number, and waiters.

Twitter

PURPOSE- We all use Twitter to

relate to each other, and to keep
in touch.
JOINING- Anyone can actually
sign up for Twitter, but ultimately
you chose who you follow and you
chose your own content- so
everyones Twitter is unique.
HOW WE COMMUNICATE- We
communicate through our phones
or computers. To talk to a specific
person we @ them.

recommendations, an essay and
an application fee. After that you
must pass the interview.
HOW WE COMMUNICATE- We
communicate in person
throughout our classes, PPO (PrePharmacy Organization) meetings,
and socials.
VOCABULARY- Friends usually
call me Val Pal. Terms includePCAT, Ms. Leyva, PPO, MOA
contract.

anything with a #hashtag in front
of it, TBH, yasss, emojis,
subtweet, @ me doe, and
