Soviet Montage

They would highlight the victories and accomplishments to make it appear

that the war was less devastating then it actually was and that they were
going to win. They would portray the enemy as weak and that they
deserved to die, this made the viewer more likely to join the war, or feel
that the war was good idea.
It is a way of editing photos/videos to change the meaning of the overall
product to portray something as good or bad, this style of editing was
invented by the Russians during the Oktober and then adopted by Hitler in
is propaganda videos.
The soviet montage movement began in 1924/25 and ended at 1930. In
this time fewer than 30 films were made in this style, such as Strike. It
was later adopted by Hitler during World War 2, if he didnt use this style
of propaganda most of Germany would not have supported the Nazi party.
Hitler made out that all other races are infestations and evil and they
needed to be removed, he did this by making films that shows the Nazi
party in a positive light and that being part of the war was the right thing
to do.
The main aspect of soviet montage style was the area of editing. Cuts
were meant to stimulate the audience to make them more interested in
the political party. They did this by the use of overlapping editing which
involves the seconds shot repeats part or all of the action from the
previous shot.

Part 2

This advert uses the soviet style of editing by having a very straight
forward message, it has a bold statement labour isnt working as well as
a line of people. The viewer immediately fined a correlation between the
statement and the line of people, which is that the labour party creates
unemployment. This is simplistic so everyone can understand it and they
instantly relate to the problem of unemployment.

This advert uses the soviet style of editing by making the viewer associate
the labour party with bombs which are weapons of destruction and can
only hurt people, also the use of the colour red and capital letters makes
the view think they are in danger which will make the think that labour is
dangerous and that they should vote for other parties.

This image shows two heads with different colours depending on the
political party, it conations one animal in each head, referencing the
intelligence of each person meaning each party. The elephant normally
symbolises good memory as well as intelligence meaning that the red are
smart or the right choice. The donkey however means the opposite, the
donkey means dumb and are normally used as tools by others such as

heavy lifting. This is an example of soviet montage as it is using images of

animals to explain the characteristics of each party.
