Well use blog post #4 to get a few things done.

Aim for a minimum of 500 words

total.
1.) Respond to the feedback you received on your Exploratory Essay, draft 2. Most
of you have feedback from one peer and from me. Thoughts? Questions? What
are your plans for your third/final draft (due in your final e-Portfolio), and why?

2.) Take a few minutes to think back to your small-group peer workshopping
experiences in class. You may want to review the Straub reading, our Dos and
Donts list, and the workshop procedure (the picture on our Moodle page). What
is going well? What can your group do differently to improve everyones
experience? What have you learned from this group that will help you be an
even better group member in your new group? (Well change groups when we
come back from Fall Break.)
3.) Lastly, prepare for our upcoming visit to the library (T 10/6 & W 10/7--when this
post is due) by reading chapters 3 and 5 in our textbook. Then prepare at least 5
questions for Donna Gunter, our librarian. Your questions can be general
research questions or specific questions about your research.
Why Read This? (Notes about the reading)
Chapter 3 is very short but, I think, incredibly helpful. The examples of how students
plagiarize (pgs. 20-21), as well as the Common Knowledge section (pgs. 23-24),
address issues that come up in every class I teach.
Chapter 5 is longer but will help you prepare for the library visit and for your next
blog post assignment. The Determining Appropriate Resources section (pgs. 5966) will be especially helpful since we are all researching very different things and
need to consider whats appropriate for our unique projects.
You dont have to complete any of the activities/Ideas Into Practice from these
chapters.
