UNIT #3 PROJECT CIVICS & ECONOMICS

Hopewell is creating a new school Constitution and is asking for feedback and submissions from its students. You have been
given the responsibility of working with your group to create the Hopewell Constitution. Although this constitution is just for
our school, we will use what we learn about the Constitution to guide you in creating each piece.
Your Constitution must include the following pieces: (jot down the section of the reading guide where you will find the
information for each of these to the side of the bullets below and/or on your rubric)
Preamble (apply the six goals in the preamble to our school setting)
Outline of the principles of the school (apply each of the principles to our school setting)
Description of the powers and limits that the school officials have (apply powers/limits and include conditions each)
Outline of how different groups have different powers within school (how powers of different groups are separated/shared)
Description of how to add new rules to the school (referring to bill to law process, identify the name of the process and
create steps)
Students Bill of Rights (apply at least five of the ten amendments to our school setting)
Members will draft each piece individually, peer review these sections for accuracy and usage (spelling, grammar, punctuation),
and create a final draft on a scroll (butcher paper) or one that is typed.
