Manners Presentation

(Oct 19th 23rd 2014)

After going to a field trip with level four foundations, I have discovered
that they need more guidance to know how to be more matured. As a
result, I presented the manners presentation to raise their awareness
of college policies and to identify the influence of good and bad
manners.
At the beginning, I showed the students a video about bad attitudes of
students in the classroom and I used it to let them predict the topic of
the presentation. In fact, it was a good way to introduce the topic
through putting learners in the real context as well as showing
examples. After showing the video, I asked the students some related
questions and then I discussed with them different examples of good
manners and how bad manners can be. This comparison gave them
the chance to see the difference and the effect of each one. I also drew
their attention to the effect of good and bad manners on the teacher
as

they

make

him/her

frustrated

and

unwilling

to

continue.

Consequently, the learning and teaching process will be affected.

To help learners be more aware of their behaviors at the college and
during field trips I invited one of them to act like a teacher and express
her feeling while students are not behaving well. After this activity, I
have noticed that learners were more aware of the behaviors and their
effects on teachers and their peers as well as themselves. Besides, I
supported the presentation with tasks to let students apply what they
gained from the presentation. Finally, I was really surprised with the
students reaction during the presentation as they were very motivated
and willing to know more about good manners. After doing the
presentation, I was very satisfied with what I did as I received
encouraging feedback from the students.

To sum up, I recommend this presentation to be done with other

students to pay their attention to the policies of the college and to
make them more aware of the effects of both bad and good behaviors
on others and on themselves.
