The

Code of Ethics of the Educa0on Profession is one that involves two main focuses in which
educators should abide by. In doing so, educators can assure success in terms of making a posi0ve name
for themselves, as well as maintaining a posi0ve, professional learning environment for all students.

In general, I view educa0on as an opportunity to open students minds to new topics, and ways
of thinking about those topics. In doing so, I hope to help students grow as individuals, and give them
the necessary tools to use both what they learn, and techniques they acquire in the classroom, in their
everyday lives.

It is a teachers responsibility to have an open mind and allow every student an equal
opportunity to grow, and at their own pace. Assuring that each student has the same opportunity to step
outside their comfort zone takes a certain amount of pa0ence from the educator, which is where ethics
plays a major role. Without the educator sincerely keeping the mindset that each student deserves equal
opportunity, as well as being equipped with good morals in rela0on to this concept, not every student
will be able to reach their full poten0al.

As a future educator, I agree that all of the principles discussed in the NEA Code of Ethics are
relevant and therefore I will incorporate each into my experiences in this specic college course as well
as in my own future classroom. To do so, I will be sure to keep an open mind, remain open to sugges0on
and thoroughly listen to others responses. In my future classroom, I will maintain an environment where
students are free to ques0on anything discussed, as a way to help me understand what from my lesson I
need to further elaborate on. I will approach new topics in a way in which my students feel comfortable
sharing whether or not they enjoy the material and any ideas they may have to improve my methods.

While always keeping a professional standing, I will make sure to not cause my young students to
feel nervous, especially when asking ques0ons. Along with keeping this professionalism, I will report
anything I see that appears inappropriate or nega0vely aects any students ability to learn. Addi0onally,
I will avoid involving myself with the act of gossiping among my fellow peers and future colleagues alike.

From each principle sec0on of the Code of Ethics en0rety, I found four items par0cularly
important for an educator to stay commiKed. These involve never inten0onally exposing a student to
embarrassment, avoiding any judgment on the basis of race, religion or background, never making a
false statement to increase a chance of employment, and nally never assis0ng anyone who is unLng
to teach acquire a posi0on to do so.

No maKer how incorrect an answer may be based on textbook views, I will never discourage a
student from speaking their mind and sharing their personal views. If they happen to give an incorrect
response, I will not make them feel like a failure for doing so. Instead, class par0cipa0on of any kind will
be supported and through doing so students will feel more comfortable to make mistakes along the way
of understanding my lessons.

As anyone in a posi0on of educa0ng or leadership should agree, race, religion and background
will absolutely never aect any decision made in my classroom, no maKer the circumstance. A student
should never be denied access to material due to anything they cannot control. Every student of mine
will have an equal opportunity to learn, as they should in regards to all aspects of their lives.

When the day comes where I am hired as a teaching professional, I want that decision to be
based o of my actual abili0es to educate, and know for certain that I am both properly qualied and
exactly what that par0cular school is looking for. I will never make a false statement to be granted

employmentteaching is my dream, and I would much rather wait for a job that I am suited for than
accept one I am not properly t to take on.

Along with this, if someone appears unLng to teach, to the best of my ability I will assure they
are removed. Students, especially at a young age, can only become as educated and well-rounded as
their instructors allow, so it is crucial that schools only hire the most qualied.
It is for this reason, as well, that ethics are so important in the eld of educa0on. An educator
should be a sociable person with qualica0ons to work hands on with children. If a person hired to teach
does not t these characteris0cs, they should be removed and replaced with someone who is. When I
am a sta member of a school one day, I will take great pride in its good reputa0on and therefore will
only want the best, most Lng colleagues by my sideones who will sincerely try their best to help
students succeed, no maKer the circumstance.
In my view of educa0on, ethics plays a crucial role and I intend on insuring that it stays so
throughout both my years as a college student, as well as my future career as an educator.
