Integrating Instructional Technology

Technology in the classroom is most effective when a plan is set in place that will
enhance the teaching ability of the teacher and the learning ability of the student. Integrating
instructional technology in the classroom consist of many tools that can be used according to the
need of the student in which they will be able to experience effective learning.
It takes time and planning to integrate technology in the classroom along with the
curriculum that is already in place that the teacher has to follow. The use of technology in the
classroom is only effective if the teachers takes time to plan accordingly with their lesson and are
fully capable and knowledgeable on how to use the tool. Teachers have to be well prepared and
have proper training on the technology tools that they are going to implement in the classroom.
Technology can be integrated in the classroom through individual work, small group or whole
class participation. This solely depends on the teacher and how well they prepare to integrate
technology in the classroom and their choice of software. While attention to choosing the
appropriate hardware and software for the classroom is prerequisite, it is the skill and attitude of
the teacher that determines the effectiveness of technology integration into the curriculum
(Bitner & Bitner, 2002).
Using technology in the classroom reflects on the students academics and how well they
stay motivated and interested to learn. Students and teachers as well benefit greatly to the use of
technology in the classroom such as the computer and the internet. Doing research on the
computer is known to be the number one reason to use the internet in education (Kelly, 2009).
With the guide of the teachers students will know which websites are reliable sources for
research. Teachers have to be prepared at hand and kept up to date with technology because it
changes over time very rapid. With the help of the students and their ideas this can also help

create a plan that will benefit them and their academics. Based on a study that was done on the
perspective of technology in the classroom, teachers should consider student perspectives when
incorporating new technologies into the curriculum to assure all students are familiar and
proficient in working with them (Wynn, 2013). Integrating technology in the classroom requires
full participation and input in order to work effectively.
Technology is definitely taking over the world to the point that it has changed in how
teachers teach and how students are learning. Technology in the classroom consists of many
different options that the teachers along with the students choose to use to enhance their learning
experience.
