SAY CONFIDENTLY, WE ARE HINDUS

THE EIGHTEEN ATTRIBUTES OF HINDUISM

AS PER PHILOSOPHICAL AND SCIENTIFIC PERSPECTIVE
Authored By His Holiness Jagadguru akarcrya r Svm Nicalnanda Sarasvat J
(The Respected 145th Pontiff of Prvmnya r Govardhana Maha, Pur, Odisha)
(Translated By: Ankur Nagpal, Delhi)
The following are those characteristics of Hinduism, which makes us confident:
1. UNIQUENESS OF THE GODHEAD PERSONALITY:
As per the school of Vednta, The God is considered to be the creator and the material cause of the world
and it incarnates as well. This means that The God transforms itself as the world, it creates the world and it
incarnates in the various forms like r Rma, r Ka, r Durg, r St etc. The omnipotence, omniscience
and omnipresence of the God are not probable; if the God is not considered to be the creator as well as the
material cause of this world.
As per our belief, The God is not a subject of the sentiments of the sentimental ones or the consequence
of the rationales logics and judgments; rather than it can be identified only by the viewpoint of the Holy
Scriptures and it is self-proved. For an example, an ascetic himself creates a tiger as well as it himself becomes a
tiger with his supernatural (Yogic) powers, likely the God itself is the creator of this world and it transforms itself
into the form of this world.
2. THE EXTRAORDINARY BELIEF:
We trust in keeping the outlook of wellbeing of the entire human race and want to see everybody to be
pleased. Our mottos are - svastyastu vivasya (vide Bhgavata Pura 05/18/09) - May there be welfare of the
entire humanity; sarve bhavantu sukhina (vide Garua Pura 02/35/51) and sarve magala
bhyt (vide Bhaviya Pura 03/02/25/15) means May everyone become pleased and contented.
3. SIGNIFICANCE OF THE VEDIC LITERATURE:
The Four Vedas (i.e. Rigveda, Yajurveda, Smaveda and Atharvaveda) are the basis of techniques to
accomplish the four principal objects of the human life (i.e. Dharma, Artha, Kma and Moka). The Vedas are
free from hallucination, errors, awkwardness and fiction as they are just like the usual breaths of the God and are
considered not to be created by anyone. The systematic documentation of the eternal facts regarding the God,
acquired in the context of creation, protection and annihilation of the world, are called the Vedas. The place of
origin as well as the inspiration of the ryan Civilization is the Vedic Literature and we feel proud on it. On its
basis, our ancestors had established the Dharma Rjya and Rma Rjya (the reign of Lord Rma) in this world.
bhta bhavya bhaviyaca sarva vedtprasiddhyati
(vide Manu Smti 12/97)
yacca trikltta tadapyokra eva
(vide Mukya Upaniat 01)
Not only the understanding of earth and other natural/visible substances, but the knowledge of the
imperceptible and extraordinary matter is also probable by a comprehensive study of Vedic Literature. The Vedic
Literature focuses on the God; which is eternal, conscious and blissful. The Eternal, Conscious and Blissful
Brahman (that is to be known by the philosophy of Vednta) is the basis of the whole lot, hence it is seen in all the
visible/invisible forms. The authentic comprehension of the entire expanse, era and character is only achievable
by a careful elucidation of the Vedic Literature.
