CREATING MY FILM

LABELS AND SPLASH

SCREEN
Mitch Price

Vision Films
I decided to create and name one of the film labels
which features in my film trailer Vision Films. The
word vision is typically associated with sight; to be
able to see or view something visually. The relevance
to this with the film industry is the visual elements of
cinema. Audiences are exhibited the screen showing
the film through the use of visualisation.
Films refers to the general field and topic of what
the company produces.

My alternate design of the logo

I created a production label logo in
Adobe Illustrator. I changed the
curved line stokes surrounding the
company name to Width Profile 1 to
make the width of the stoke more
defined in the center of the logo.
I did this to personify the logo as the
shape of a curved eye, with the pupil
in the centre with the text in the
middle.

Creating the final design logo

I decided that the professionalism of the first
draft of the logo wasnt to a standard which I
expected. I decided to curve the placing of
the text Vision Films.
I altered the final design in InDesign by using
the Pen Tool to make the text curved. This
created the curved effect acting upon the
text. I then made the text more spaced apart
and at a slightly taller height.
I also added a circle within the O of vision
to connote optical vision through the human
eye. I added a white pupil in the centre to
further authenticate a real eye.

Inserting the company image into the

trailer
In Premier, I then used the
Razor tool to remove singular
frames to create a flickering
effect to the still logo image.
This made a strobe effect as
the viewer is blinking with
their eyes.

Black House Productions

I decided to name this film

label Black House
Productions because the colour black can connote
danger, evil, death and many more verbs and
adjectives like these. The idea to some viewers of
being in a dark house could create fear and terror,
which also relates back to the genre of this film
production.
Monochrome colour schemes are often used in the
horror-film industry to create a sinister mise-enscene; also being a metaphorical representation
for hell and darkness.
I inserted a black triangular shape above House
to authenticate a silhouette of the roof on top of a
house.
I decided to use a thick, bold font in order to
create a heavy, black image which boldly stands
out of the white backdrop.

MPAA Splash Screen

As a way to make my film trailer appear as professional and real as possible, I will
include a Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) green age certificate
screen at the opening of the trailer.
In order to follow horror-genre conventions, the film would most likely be rated a
12, 15 or 18 certificate. On the splash screen, I must consider which age certification
for the trailer which I must preview to audiences either PG-13 or R (Restricted).
