Demographic Project - Part 3: Classic DTM with Contemporary Projections
1) In your groups, identify the FIVE (including the fifth theoretical stage) stages found in the Classic Demographic Transition Model, recreating the Classic Population, CDR and CBR Trends.
2) Upon finishing your chart.
Your group will need to visit www.gapminder.org to view the Wealth and Health Of Nations animated chart.
3) Using the site as a guide,
your group will divide your graph into income and health cohorts (sections). a) Divide the graph horizontally, in equal intervals into low (less than $2000), middle ($2000 to $20,000) and high income (above $20,000). b) Divide the graph vertically into short life expectancy (less than 40 years), medium life expectancy (40 to 75 years) and long life expectancy (75 years or more).
4) Once you have divided your
chart, forming income and health groups, your group will find each of your Scattergories countries on the Wealth and Health chart at 1800, 1918, 1941 and 2012.
5) Plot your countries status on
your chart, representing each country with a population bubble. Once you have recorded your countries data onto your DTM, you will connect the dots for each country creating a projected trend.
