About the Project

In a world where the role of media has been so great that a term 'mediacracy' (the rule of media) has
been frequently used to describe it, the need for media literacy and media activism of young people and
youth NGOs is apparent. That is the main topic of this project.
AIMS
1: Increasing the capacity of youth organisations/workers in the field of media literacy and media activism
and fostering their active participation in society, as well as fostering intraregional and transregional
cooperation between 11 youth NGOs from 5 Partner and 5 Programme countries from Western Balkans
(WB), Western Europe (WE) and North Europe (NE) regions;
2: Strengthening media promotion of youth policy and democratic values in partner countries on
transregional and European level.
MAIN OBJECTIVES
1. Strengthening human and technical (ICT) resources of 11 youth NGOs in the field of media literacy and
media activism;
2. Creating multilingual OER on media literacy and media activism;
3. Creating a transnational e-Magazine for youth policy and democracy;
4. Establishing strong intraregional and transregional cooperation among partner NGOs.
ACTIVITIES
1. Training course (TC) in media literacy and media activism
2. Creating educative content (OER):
- an online course on media literacy and media activism;
- an online course on how to create blog on youth policy and democracy;
- a database of existing open resources on media literacy/activism.
3. Creating an informative-educative portal. The Portal will consist of:
- a transnational e-Magazine for youth policy and promotion of democratic values;
- knowledge database on media literacy/activism (created through Activity 2).
An e-Magazine will publish media content in English created by the youth workers that attended the TC,
as well as other young people, youth workers and experts. This content will partially contain information
from other websites.
The entire project will last 9 months, from October 1 to June 30, 2016.

MEDIActive Youth
Training Course Description
The goal of the TC is to provide media literacy/activism skills for 33 youth workers from 11 partner NGOs.

contents in particular writing texts for the media; developing and using ICT tools for activities through
the media). They will learn to create media content and a blog. Each partner organization will have its
own blog with texts on youth policy and combating antidemocratic manifestations by the end of the TC.
The participants will also learn to use social networks as vehicles for the media activism.
The TC contains several main parts: 1. Media Literacy and The Power of Media, 2. Youth activism
through media, 3. B(l)ogus adventure, 4. Writing skills, 5. Team building and relaxation activities; 6.

The TC will be implemented by different working methods and techniques of non-formal learning
workshops, discussions, practical work (news writing, making a blog), watching media content, case
studies and movie projections, group work, online learning, PPT, icebreakers, energizers

banks usually have lower course than Exchange offices).
*Dinar versus Euro rate fluctuates a bit, but for 1 EUR you will approximately get 120 RSD.
*Exchange offices and banks will not exchange cents or other foreign metal money (coins).

How to reach Krusevac?

1) If you are coming by plane you are most likely arriving to Belgrade Airport (airport `Nikola Tesla`,
www.beg.aero) or Nis (airport `Constantine the Great`, www.nis-airport.com).
In each case you will need to get to the Main Bus station (Glavna autobuska stanica) and take a bus to
Krusevac from there. There are no direct lines from either Belgrade or Nis Airport to Krusevac.
Transportation from the Belgrade airport to the Main Bus Station: http://www.beg.aero/en/strana/8811/bus
! Public transport is the cheapest (1-3 EUR), but it is occasionally irregular. If you would like to use a
registered taxi service, please contact the staff at the information counter and they will call the taxi for you
(taxi service should not be more than 15 EUR, and some offer fixed rate). Please be aware of the wild
taxi drivers that can approach you and offers you a ride that they charge up to 50 Euros!
Transportation from the Nis airport to the Main Bus Station: Nis Airport is located 2,5 kilometers from the
Bus Station and the taxi service in Nis is quite affordable so we reccommend taking a taxi.
2) If you are coming by bus you can arrive in Belgrade or Nis. You will arrive to the Main Bus station, and
you can buy a ticket to Krusevac from there.
Information about tickets and timetable you can find here:

the service is affordable and costs approximately around 3 EUR.
