    An investigation was carried out using a copper sulfate electrolyte solution. A solid formed at the negative electrode and a gas was given off at the positive electrode. The solid was copper and the gas was oxygen. The blue color of the copper sulfate solution became paler during the investigation because copper ions were being deposited as solid copper at the negative electrode.
