In the lesson How Many Murry, T.A., Grade1 Math How Many? Greater
Than/Less Than Differentiated Instruction Lesson Plans - SD ESA , the
teacher first starts by pre- testing the students to see how many know about
the terms less than and grader than. The teacher gives each student preassessment to guide herself to see what students will need that extra help.
Then she has the students created their own book of less than and greater
than by cutting pictures of old magazines. She then has students show her
what pictures show less than and what pictures show more than. Teacher
also have the students listen to a story about How Many Seeds by Monica
Halpern. If I was teaching this lesson I would use a power point presentation
with different kind of pictures that would show the students less than and
greater than. I would then let my students go around the room and see what
objects that can use to present to class that could help them learn with the
lesson less than and grader than. I would also divide my students into four
groups and give each group block, paper clips, and give them a small
number and a big number. Put the blocks into the small number and the
paper clips into the big number to tell the difference about less than and
greater than.
Differentiated Instruction
We are all created with our own uniqueness and we shall learn how to
embrace our talents. Not every students has the same facilitation to learn
and some take a little longer to accomplish an everyday task. This is where
differentiate instruction plays a big role in todays education. As educators
we should learn how to accommodate every students needs. Whether it is
an educational video, technology device, power point presentation or an
educational web site we should take inconsideration the specific need of
those students whom might need that extra help. As teacher we all have the
same goal and that is to see our students succeed.
effective tool for urban school students because the Compass Learning
software has key assessments that are based on the ability of the
students.(Cobb, 2010, p.43) Technology tools are making a huge difference
on students whom might need that extra help when it comes to Reading,
Math, Science, Phonics, Language Arts and many other subjects.
Differentiated instruction is a great benefit for those students whom need
that extra help. Not every students learn at the same pace. Some of the
problems that I personally think might go wrong using differentiate
instruction would have to be they lack of tools, not enough resources to
accommodate every students needs. Teacher need to be well train on how
to use technology and tools the proper way to help students with different
needs. It can even be a problem when the school district does not have
sufficient funds. To hire special education teacher to help students that learn
in a more different way. Teacher may not like the fact that they have to
construct varies lesson plans to target every students learning abilities and
needs.
Conclusion
Not every student is able to learn the same way some might need that
extra help. Therefore teacher might need to be a little flexible on how they
approach differentiated instruction. Differentiate instruction is giving a new
meaning to the way teacher teach students whom have a harder time to
learn when they are taught in a direct way. Teacher have to come out with
different ways to teach by using software, web sites, educational games or
videos. The main thing is we need to reach to those students that have a
hard time to comprehend. After all everyone is born with it is own
uniqueness.
