Course Text- Geometry Glencoe McGraw-Hill

Calculator
Pencils
Loose leaf paper
Spiral notebook for math class only (can be part of 3 or 5 subject) or 1
Binder
Three different colored highlighters or colored pencils

Assessments
Formative Assessments
Quick checks for understanding during the learning process such as
homework and quizzes
Descriptive feedback is provided so learning targets can be met
Scores for homework and quizzes will be visible on ProgressBook and will be
calculated as part of the final grade
Homework is work completed outside the classroom that is designed to
reinforce or provide practice of skills and concepts addressed instructionally,
collect evidence of student understanding, and provide a risk-free opportunity
to transfer new learning.
Quizzes will count for 20 percent of final grade
Homework Policy
All homework is done by next class period unless specified
Homework practice will be assigned daily for each lesson.
Work for homework must be shown in pencil either in a math notebook or
loose-leaf paper that is available to check or hand in. Additionally, students
will be able to refer to their work in class when going over a difficult
homework problem from the previous night.
All problems must be attempted, problems should be set up, and a genuine
effort to show work must be evident.
Homework will be collected periodically throughout the trimester and
checked at a minimum for completion on a daily basis.
Use of calculator is allowed unless otherwise specified.

Homework accounts for 20 percent of final grade

Summative Assessments
Snap-shot of a students learning at the end of a topic or unit
Provides information about the students mastery of content, knowledge, and
skills in relation to the units learning targets
Scored and averaged into the students final grade
ProgressBook will be utilized for this class to show students grade.
Includes topic tests and projects
Evaluation of mastery of learning targets will be addressed as follows:
1 = below learning target, 2 = approaching learning target, 3 = meeting
learning target,
4 = exceeding learning target
Retest Policy:
Tests and application sheets will count for 40 percent of final grade
Final Course Assessment will be 20 percent of final grade

A grade is an indicator of a student's mastery of grade-level learning

targets. Students demonstrate what they know, understand, and can do
as measured through multiple assessments and observations.
A 4 Exceeding learning target: The student demonstrates mastery, with
excellence, of the grade-level learning targets with relative ease and consistency,
and often exceeds the cognitive level of the targets. The student applies and

extends the key concepts, processes, and skills. The student is working at grade
level yet at a higher level of thinking.
B 3 Meeting learning target: The student demonstrates mastery of the grade-level
learning targets at the cognitive level the target is written. The student consistently
grasps and applies key concepts, processes, and skills with limited errors.
C 2 Approaching learning target: The student demonstrates mastery of some
grade-level learning targets. The student inconsistently grasps and applies some of
the key concepts, processes, and skills with significant errors.
D 1 Below learning target: The student has no demonstrated mastery of gradelevel learning targets and is not yet performing at grade level.
Rules

As we are in high school, I expect each student can follow general class
rules. Students must ask and get agenda signed for bathroom permission.
Each student is expected to raise their hand before beginning discussion,
and the rest of the class is expected to be respectful to anyones questions
or opinions. This class is expected to be a positive learning environment
where each student will grow to meet their own potential. Throwing objects
or bullying will not be tolerated. NO CELL PHONE USE! Cell phones in use
during class, including before and after the bell, will be given to Mr. Evans in
the office. Each student is asked to work to their full effort to reach the
success parents, administrators, teachers and themselves expect. BRING ALL
CLASS MATERIALS!!!
Make-up Work
Student will have as many days as they were out to make up work. In addition,
points for test retakes will be made available after a tutoring session and will be
discussed before the first assessment.
