TARGET AUDIENCE:
My target audience are a similar audience to BBC Radio 2 & 4 Extra.
People aged 30/35 and over who enjoy the slightly more mature themes.
The audience should expect a relatable story with relatable characters. I
am hoping for this drama to be a slight representation of what it is really
like going through this.
BUDGET:
In terms of the budget, the overall budget for the half an hour episode
would be about 20,000 if I use the studio for an hour. But because I ram
only recording a five minute snippet I will be using the studio for about half
an hour. Making my budget 10,000. This then needs to be distributed
between the actors, equipment and props etc. I plan to bring all my props
myself reducing the amount I need to spend. Because it is a radio drama I
can use anything in order to make a sound effect, as long as it sounds
realistic. Again minimizing the amount I spend on props. This leaves me
with just having to cover the: actors, studio staff, hiring the studio and
equipment costs. I am also writing the drama and planning it myself
therefore expenses on writers etc. are not an issue.
My expenses are as follows from looking at SoundWorks
(http://www.soundworks-oxford.co.uk/rates.html):
Actors x2: estimated at 1000 per actor = 2000
This is so high in order for me to make the most out of the actors and use
them for a good period of time. Having a larger budget for the actors
allows you to be slight more picky when it comes to casting as it gives you
more leeway with the professionals.
Studio hire: 30 per hour
Equipment: included in the studio hire
Total expenses: 2030.
ACTORS/ACTRESSES:
For my drama I will need just two characters. A male character and a
female character to play Louise & Mathew Moore. I am using classmate
Danni Sanger to play Louise & Ruairidh Johnston to play Mathew. Jake isnt
featured in the drama therefore I do not need a character for him. I have
chosen Danni to play Louise because of the fact I feel she will be able to
portray the character well. As well as portray the correct emotions through
to the audience. Ruairidh again I feel will fit the character well. He is
diverse when it comes to getting into a certain character and portraying
them in the correct way, which is what I need in order to get the right
message across.
