Add Axis Labels to a Scattergram

Calculate your scattergrams (Classifier | Feature Space Images) using the standard tool from the
classification menu and display the results into a Viewer.

In the scattergram Viewer, select Raster | Pixel Transparency and set Transparent Background to
On.

Click the Save icon in the Viewer.

Create a new Map Composition at the required size (e.g., use the default 8" x 8 if this is just for display
purposes).

Drag a roughly square new Map Frame across the map composition and select the scattergram Viewer
as the source.

In the Map Area Width and Height fields, type 256 to get the scale approximately correct.

Select the Change Map and Frame Area (Maintain Scale) mode.

In the Upper Left Map Coordinates, set the X to 0 and Y to 256 (if you want your scattergram axes to
start at 0,0).

Go back and make sure Map Area Width and Height are set to 256.

Click OK in the Map Frame dialog.

In the Map Composer, click on the Create Grid Tics button and select the frame you just added.

Set the grid parameters that you want, for example, set a Spacing of 10, Use Full Grid and Copy to
Vertical. Just make sure that Starting At: is set to 0 for both axes.

Select Apply.

You may want to change the grid lines to a thinner line, different color, etc., using the standard tools.

Use the Create Text Annotation tool to add titles to each axis. If you cant remember which axis is which
band, bring up View | Arrange Layers - the default name should indicate the axis assignment (e.g.,
lanier_3_5.fsp.img indicates that the x axis is band 3 and the y axis is band 5).
