Soaring Eagles!

Great achievements are happening everyday at Southeast Middle School


because of the dedication and hard work of our staff, students, and
parents. A few examples of our current achievements are listed below.

+ HONOR ROLL/CITIZENSHIP: We had 301 students make the Honor Roll and 159 students earn Best
Citizenship for the Fall Semester. Thank you to all teachers who push students to excel!

+ PERIODIC ASSESSMENT 2: The table shows the number of students meeting proficiency (scoring
Proficient/Advanced). Seven students earned perfect scores on the Mathematics Assessment. Kudos to 6th
Grade Mathematics teachers for increasing the proficiency by 28 students!

+ ACCELERATED READER (AR): Top Reader – Maria Guadalupe Bojorquez, 6th Grader 300.5 points).

+ MODEL UN: 2 of our students (representing one country) received Best Position Paper out of 19 participating
schools. A total 27 Southeast students participated in the Model UN; spending a number of hours researching,
studying, and writing in preparation for the event. Kudos to Mr. Ulmer and Mr. Medina for preparing the
students and organizing the event!

+ FUNDRAISER FOR HAITI: Students raised $1561.06! Their goal was $1000. Kudos to Ms. Mejia and
Roxy for organizing the fundraiser and supporting global citizenship!

+ LAUSD HONORS MIDDLE SCHOOL MUSIC: Eight students were selected to play in the Middle School
Honor Music Festival. Kudos to Dr. McKinney for preparing the students to excel!

+ STUDENTS RUN LA: 11 Students will run in the LA Marathon along with their teachers. Kudos to Ms. I.
Flores, Mr. Zamudio, and Ms. DiPieri for training the students for this event. Good Luck!
