Concern(s):
It was brought to my attention the Jared had made a comment that he
either wished he was dead or wanted to die and his clinical site. His CI
talked to him see attachment, but we wanted to talk with him as well.
Faculty Comments and Suggestions :
I met with Jared on 4/10/2013 and asked him how he was doing and what I had
heard. He said he didnt recall making that comment and that he would work on
not make people feel uncomfortable. I told him that he hadnt made anyone
uncomfortable; we were just concerned about him and wanted to know there
were resources available if he needed to talk with someone or get counseling. I
referred him to the student services website and explained that many students
feel overwhelmed in the program and we wanted to help. He did say his grades
werent what he wanted them to be and we talked about studying for 20 min
every day instead of cramming for tests and that getting enough sleep was very
important to forming long-term memory. Also, the he may want to write out flash
cards. He also mentioned that he felt a little like there was a disconnect with the
textbook information and the practical application at the clinical site. We talked
about how understanding the textbook info will help prepare for clinical
application and while some students take to Radiography like fish to water, some
have to work at it a little harder and learn how to use their gills.
