Ask students what they have noticed about
the amount of food the chicks eat
compared to how much food they eat.
Model a few sentences for students
- Chicks eat chick feed
- People eat fruit
- People eat vegies
- People eat meat
- Have students go to their desks and
write a sentence. Aim for at least
two sentences
- Have students draw pictures

Help students with the vocabulary about


warning signs- how does my body react in a
scary or uncomfortable situation? Label the
body with the locations of those warning signs
Ask students questions:
- What if a big boy tells you to give him
your money?
- What if I offered you a lolly?
- What if someone wants you to give
them a hug when you dont want to?
Have students practice yes and no assertively
highlighting strong body language
Explain to students no, go, and tell
. Tell students that I want to go on a holiday
but first I need the class to tell me about their
holidays so I know what I need to take with
me. Have students contribute to the definition
of need and want.
Ask students about their holidays, where they
went, how long they were gone for and what
they did once the got there. Talk about what is
important to take on a holiday and what
wouldnt matter if it was left behind. Give a
students a piece of paper that has a suitcase
on one side and lines on the other. Ask
students to first write what we need on the
lined side and draw what we need on the other
side.
