B. Changes
1. Increased structure, similar to classroom
2. The number and types of testing has varied
3. In Wyoming, three tests have been offered, High Step, TASK or GED
4. Recently the tests have become difficult
5 GED focus has been recently changed to reflect the common core
classes

Classes are Monday thru Thursday 8:30 to 11:30
Open classes in the evenings
Tutoring available

1. Funding under WIOA partners with workforce serves and

vocational rehabilitation
2. More emphasis on careers, college prep and pre-employment
activities

B State Overview
1- Work is the preferred outcome for people with
disabilities
2- 2014 became state policy
3- State taskforce has variety of different agencies and
individuals.
3 - Employment rate for people with disabilities is very low
statewide and nationwide.
4- Priorities include increasing employment rate, finding and using
business expertise and guidance, starting transition and employment at an
earlier age, and using available resources to advance employment
opportunities.
5- Want to divide state into 4 districts
6- Want to have an Employment 1st meeting in each district
7- Looking for means to document impact

1- Need topic relevant to employers
2- Cindy volunteered to present on Effective Ways to Communicate with
Employees with Disabilities
3- Susan will present on working with Employers (or something similar)
in November
4- Mike and June Bailey could also be asked to present their experiences
in employing job seekers with disabilities
