Guidance Counseling is a provision of assistance and guidance in resolving personal,

social or psychological problems and difficulties especially by a professional.

As part of this course, we are going to experience to become a guidance counselor. We will
become a guidance counselor to our assigned counselee. Our instructor, Mr. Samuel Comia give
the names of our counselees who are we going to counsel. And luckily, my counselees are only
on one section, at BSED-1103 and they are both female. They are Ms. Ellah R. Hernandez and
Ms. Sharmaine J. Malaluan, both freshmen who are enrolled at the College of Teacher Education.
We are going to counsel them and we must have at least three meetings with them. As the
guidance counselor, we should prepare our narrative reports as a requirement for this counseling
session.
In our first meeting, I just introduce myself for them to know that Im going to be their
guidance counselor. Since they are classmates, I can easily find where they are having their
class. I just ask for their names and also I get their contact numbers so that I can contact them if
Im going to counsel them. After that I ask them to bring their projects at Psychology so I can have
information about them and questions I want to ask to them.
On our second meeting, I just contact them to bring their projects and I meet them at the
TLE shop. After that I said that Im going to schedule our next meeting for counseling. While Im
reading their projects, as I saw to the characteristics and qualities of Ms. Hernandez, I see that
she is a very jolly person and she also said that she didnt like those who are so competitive and
boastful and good thing about her, she is not showing any sign of being negative. While Ms.
Malaluan, is very different because she said that she hates her life and those who are leaving her
behind. Her experience is not so common unlike the others and needed to give focus and
attention to help overcome this.

In the third meeting, October 5, 2015, I scheduled our

counseling. The first is with Ms. Hernandez. She shares
some of her personal experience. They are six siblings
in their family but unfortunately, her elder brother died
because of nightmare and she did not know it because
she was only a little child that time. She also shares her
experience when she was studying in elementary and
high school. When she was in elementary, she is afraid
to the teachers because that time they give punishments to the students who are naughty or noisy
so she is behaving and doing very well so that she is not given punishments and when she was in
high school, she only said that is a stage that she feels so happy and fall in love. She has also
many friends in her high school life. Now that she is in college, she takes education because
thats her own choice. She chooses it because she loves teaching and also wants to take major in

Filipino or TLE. She share also that studying education is not easy because there are many things
to do and accomplish. She is a very jolly person and always positive in facing her problems and
she hates being negative.

For Ms. Malaluan, I see that she is quiet type of

person but when I meet her I see that she is a jolly
person but she is not really showy. When I have my
conversation with her, I found that her father died
because of a heart disease and after that incident her
mother left them to work at Saudi Arabia when she was
little and her auntie take the responsibility to take care
of her and her little brother. She hates her mother
because why they are being left behind and what is the
reason why her mother does that. It really bothers her mind.
She thinks that that her mother did not love them and not
care for them. Then she realized that she is not looking for
the presence of her mother because they did not see her
every time. They only see each other during Christmas and
after that her mother left them again for work. But she
overcome this sadness because of the love of her auntie,
brother and also her best friend who are always there that
give her strength to face every problem. I also know that
she is not a fan of girly things but she love to read eBooks and also draw when she has a time.
She also wants to take TLE major when she becomes a second year student. As I see, she is
doing well during this college.

In all, Im very
chance

to

become

happy because we are given a

guidance counselors. This will

help in our future profession, an educator. We are not only a teacher who are sharing knowledge
to learn but also a guidance counselor who help our students in facing their problems in a positive
and good way.
