Health Informatics People who work in this group of occupations manage health-related information and
facilities. The group includes those who manage hospitals, health centers, nursing homes, and other
medical care facilities. It also includes those who collect information about clients, record it, and make it
available to those who need to know it.
Network Systems People who work in this group of occupations design, install, and maintain computer
networks. They first find out what the needs of a facility or organization are for computer services. Then they
make a detailed plan, purchase the equipment, and install it. They also make sure that the system continues
to work properly and meet the needs of the organization.
Regulation People who work in these occupations know and enforce the law related to standards that
protect our health and physical safety where we work and in our communities. Some workers in this field
inspect places to see if they conform to standards. Others may read reports, make claims that standards are
not being met, and testify in court trials to that effect.
Quality Assurance People who work in this group of occupations have the responsibility of making sure that
whatever a company delivers is of good quality. Some choose the materials that are used to make the
product to assure that they meet the highest standard. Others test the product after production to make sure
that it looks and operates correctly. Some constantly test products against legal requirements to make sure
that they conform.
Therapeutic Services People who work in this group of occupations deal directly with patients to provide
whatever kind of medical care or treatment they need. Many kinds of technicians, nurses, and medical
assistants who work under the direction of medical doctors are included.

Diagnostics Services People who work in this group of occupations perform a wide variety of medical tests
as ordered by medical doctors. The purpose of these tests is to gather information to help doctors make an
accurate diagnosis of a medical problem.
Information Support and Services Many who work in this group of occupations collect, enter, and analyze
data by computer. Some organize computer databases. Others write computer programs. Still others design
the logic of computer systems and oversee their operation.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Assurance People who work in this group of occupations are focused
on making our environment safe. They apply methods to making contaminated land safe and productive.
They make and enforce rules in work places so that the health and physical well-being of workers will be
assured. Some design office equipment that will cause the least amount of wear and tear on the human
body.
Professional Support Services People who work in this group of occupations provide a variety of special
services in school settings. These individuals help students with personal, physical, and educational
problems. Examples of these occupations are school counselors, social workers, psychologists, and speech
pathologists.
Regulation People who work in these occupations know and enforce the law related to standards that
protect our health and physical safety where we work and in our communities. Some workers in this field
