4. OA.A.2: Students will accurately use the four operations with

whole numbers to solve problems; we will be working on
multiplication.
Knowing your multiplication facts is faster that counting. To be
able to solve a word problem using multiplication. Also to know
that knowing your multiplication facts are important to know.

I am giving the students a worksheet to test them on their

multiplication on word problems. Students should be able to solve
all the word problems by multiplying.

Materials
The book: Amanda Beans Amazing Dream, a worksheet with
Which has More questions and a PowerPoint to explain how to
draw out a multiplication problem.

25 minutes for reading the story and going over different

multiplication problems throughout the book. 10 minutes for doing
the Which has More worksheet and 5 minutes closing the lesson.

Introduction: Say Hi and explain that we will be working on

multiplication today and how to solve a multiplication word
problem but counting the numbers and knowing our multiplication
facts. I will also ask the kids if it is faster to solve by counting or by
knowing our multiplication facts.
Demonstration will be in the book I read, for the main character
talks about multiplication and how knowing your facts makes
solving easier than just counting everything.
Participation will go a long with the book I am reading. There are
some times when the main character figures out multiplication
problems and I want the students to figure it out first before I read
the answer.
Practice: I made a worksheet that has ask students which has
more and they have to figure out each situation by multiplying and
then compare the two and say which has more.

Questions
Does it making multiplying faster and easier? I will ask the

students to solve a few word problems using multiplication.
