- I introduce myself to children. I use the routine ''Hello! I'm Rada. I'm your
English teacher''. Then I ask children: Whats your name?
I ask children if they can remember about the Happy House (rooms, children,
names, pets). I explain that there will be a new mouse in the house.

I ask students to stand up, show them flashcards and ask Whats this? Then I
ask students to point to the correct card when I say the word. We repeat the
activity several times.

I place ten flashcards in a line. I point to the each card and invite class to say
what it is. Repeat the activity several times. Then turn one card face down, point
to the cards again and ask students to repeat the sequence, but they have to
remember the card that was turned over.

I say: Show me your class book. I say look at the page two and three and ask
them to find ten objects from the previous activity, setting the time limit. When the
time is up, I ask questions about the objects (e.g. Where is the bag? What colour
is the car?).

I play The Happy House song (listening 1). On Heres a window I mime looking
out of the classroom window with my hand above my eyes. On heres a door I
mime knocking on the door, etc. I repeat the song asking children to join in with
the mimes. Then I encourage children to join in with the singing.
