Commentary
Guided Reading is a teaching method that involves grouping students (into small groups) based on their reading ability or goals, and in
which theyre provided varying degrees of support based on their needs. The method of guided reading involves the collaborative reading
of a leveled text to foster discussion as opportunities of learning arise. My contention in this poster is that such a method aligns with the
principles of a constructivist education. I association the three stages of guided reading (before, during and after) with the three
underlying constructivist notions upon which the two-phase model (exploratory and discovery phases) is founded. (Flynn et al 2004)
