VCE Legal Unit 2, Study area 3 Assessment Task


Research task: Students are to choose an area of law to investigate from
the following 3 options, with a focus on a particular issue within that area.
Ive listed some ideas in brackets:
Family Law, (marriage equality, divorce, surrogacy)
Sport and the Law, (drugs in sport, discrimination, trade
restraints)
Tenancy Law, (rights of tenants v landlords, comparisons with
laws in other countries).
Students are to give a PowerPoint presentation that lasts for 10 min that
needs to cover:
A description of their chosen area of law, including relevant
key knowledge and principles of law.

Highlight any contemporary issues and problems with the law


using real cases as examples.

The capacity for the legal system to respond to demands for


change. What law? How?

While planning make sure you cover the theory but also look at the issue
in a real-world context, including the different sides of the debate if its a
controversial topic.
