PD Session Review

Shayna Sahayaraj and Aayushi Mithani

On Wednesday 14th October 2015, The Winchester School Jebel Ali, decided it was time for
teachers to be the students and the students to be the teachers. The after-school personal
development session - organized by Ms. Shirin Farzana; was based around the general
theme of 'Digital Citizenship'. As the student teachers, our job was to educate the teachers
about different websites on the internet that they could use in order to make their learning
sessions more effective, colourful, as well as collaborative. We decided to showcase two very
helpful websites, known as Zoho.com and Emaze.com.
These websites are made as an alternative to Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and Excel.
Zoho.com is used to type up documents and create spreadsheets. The online server is very
quick in saving any and all changes made to a document to ensure that no data is lost;
especially since its online, the document is accessible from various host locations. Emaze.com
is the blessing of interactive powerpoints. Quite similar to Microsoft Powerpoint and Prezi.com,
it has an array of themed templates that are perfect for several occasions. Be it for a simple,
yet playful background for the younger students. Or powerful, informative presentations for a
meeting, etc.
The teaches were quite impressed with what we showed them. The entire session was very
collaborative and an innovative idea that allows students to do more and to give back to their
school. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and we look forward to hosting several more
with a large amount of teachers.
