Purpose
ThepurposeoftheStudentLearningBehaviourPolicy(SLBP)isto:

Suspensionandexpulsion
Astudentshouldonlybeexcludedfromschoolinsituationswhereallothermeasureshavebeen
implementedwithoutsuccessorwhereanimmediatesuspensionistheonlyappropriatecourseofactionin
responsetothestudentsbehaviour.
4.3.3 Groundsforsuspension
Aprincipalmaysuspendastudentif,whileattendingschoolortravellingtoorfromschoolor
engagedinanyschoolactivityawayfromschool(includingtraveltoorfromthatactivity),the
student:
(a) Behavesissuchawayastothreatenorconstituteadangertothehealth,safetyor
wellbeingofanyperson;or
(b) commitsanactofsignificantviolenceagainstapersonorcausessignificantdamagetoor
destructionofpropertyorisknowinglyinvolvedinthetheftofproperty;or
(c) possesses,uses,ordeliberatelyassistsanotherpersontouseprohibiteddrugsor
substances;or
(d) failstocomplywithanyreasonableandclearlycommunicatedinstructionofaprincipal,
teacherorotherstaffmember;or
(e) consistentlybehavesinamannerthatinterfereswiththewellbeing,safetyoreducational
opportunitiesofanyotherstudent;or
(f) consistentlyengagesinbehaviourthatvilifies,defames,degradesorhumiliatesanother
personbasedonage;breastfeeding;genderidentity;impairment;industrialactivity;lawful
sexualactivity;maritalstatus;parentalstatusorstatusasacarer;physicalfeatures;political
belieforactivity;pregnancy;race;religiousbelieforactivity;sexualorientation;personal

(b)thestudentsbehaviourisofsuchmagnitudethat,havingregardtotheneedofthestudent
toreceiveaneducationcomparedtotheneedtomaintainthehealth,safetyandwellbeingof
otherstaffandstudentsattheschoolandtheneedtomaintaintheeffectivenessofthe
