Part 1: Assessment Technology:

Hello Class my name is Emery Toler and I hope to create a class that will
challenge you and peak your interests and unearth your motivation to learn. This is
the link to the online question, log on to it and look for
https://b.socrative.com/login/student/ and my code (teachers code: 5dSmiVxLF).
This is a formative assessment question to provide a glimpse into the working of
each student and how to engage the classroom and to see what we as a class can
do to improve the quality vs the quantity of work we will engage in. Also I hope to
hear your thoughts on improvement in the subjects that interest you and how to
make those that do not better.
This is a quick question to see what likes of each student and what their
expectations are in the classroom.
Part 2: Blog Post
Introduction:
The introduction to new material is always a challenge for new teachers
within a class room setting as is the introduction to the students themselves. By
providing a gateway into the minds of each students creative process and keeping
the lines of communication open this process can be made to be something more
enjoyable for everyone. As we have entered a stage that includes many distinct
ways that provide advances into the education process Several indicators in the
data would allow communities to set target goals that impact public school success,
including but not limited to academic achievement and By gathering and
analyzing regional data outside the no Child Left Behind Act's mandates of adequate
yearly progress, this report card could facilitate increased support for public
education (Coleman, H., & Fischetti, J. , 2009). That is why such utilizing such

software and tech tools such as socrative.com , mimiovote.com, and

polleverywhere.com may help to increase the understanding and create an ongoing
dialogue of information between students, administration and teachers that support
the advancement of the student learning process everywhere.

Technology to Facilitate Ongoing Efforts to Assess Student Learning

The access to these different yet viable alternatives that help distinguish students are
becoming the norm in many schools as technology has become a mainstay in the lives of most
students, parents and educators alike. Student learning is perhaps the greatest part of the process
of instilling ideas and keeping in step with the knowledge and information that is coming at us at
an alarming rate. Most teachers with the help of whiteboards, laptops and video, also
smartphones and social media can create an adjusted view into the minds of their students.
Providing valuable insight into what they may be lacking in and looking to bolster their specific
interests and channel their ideas into working parts of the equation. By analyzing data that can be
received by certain questions, quizzes and or multiple choice answers this can lead educators in
the right direction of providing answers and other alternatives to promote better understanding of
the material presented and hope to get more out of each class.
socrative.com: By providing real time questioning, empowered results and visualization
for students this software can be used by teachers and students alike to provide insight into the
world of education. By accessing information on personalized content this tool is capable of
providing assessments that can be used to create a specific workable lesson plan for teachers to
implement. Also the process can be done quickly and easily providing information that is able to
be put to use to and save time in the classroom so that more time is put into quality

understanding of the subjects at hand and provide an even more collaborative classroom between
students, peers and teachers.
mimiovote.com: With the accessibility of smartphones and or tablets in the classroom
mimiovote.com if available can be a better way of utilizing information by accessing quizzes and
tests immediately by grading and collected data and analyze the results in a gradebook for
teachers and students to discuss and look over to create other alternatives and to understand what
may need to be done for the particular student. This technology aides in the planning of different
activities and through the access of handheld devices or laptops or even smartphones the
information is readily available and can be downloaded to maximize the potential of the
assessment provided.
polleverywhere.com: Teachers and students can access this web-based applications to
support learning including the Poll Everywhere which allows students to submit answers via
computer or mobile device to a question, the Near Pod which offers interactive question slides
and the plickers for collecting student data (Smith, B. b., & Mader, J. j. , 2015) by using
multiple choice and short answers responses to questions using cellphones(if applicable in your
school) to gauge activities for students in education. Also these questions can be gotten through
text messages, widget and even through social media(twitter) it is a great option to analyze data
on students interest while providing feedback for the instructor as well.

As a teacher understanding the difference in formative assessment and summative

assessment will do you well when creating a plan that will introduce, help and adjust the
students capabilities in the classroom. Formative assessment is when formal or informal testing

conducted by the teacher in order to assess learning activities and modify teaching in and during
the process. While summative assessment usually refers to the outcome of the program and the
evaluation at the end by comparison against some set standard or benchmark. By providing a
balanced assessment in the classroom with tools such as mimiovote.com and poll everywhere
with quizzes and on the spot tests these tools can provide a glimpse into what lessons can be
implemented into the curriculum. By using formative assessments as these tools, this can be a
window into a more summative assessment later on that will combine the ideas from the
classroom into a final workable test that provides a concluded instructional design of the entire
checklist such as classroom climate, instruction and planning and preparation. The ability to ask
immediate and get immediate answers to questions such as the tool on socrative.com makes the
ability to use either a formative or summative assessment possible in the blink of an eye while
providing valuable insights into the student.

While the pros and cons of learning object development and usage could fill volumes,
here are the broad issues key to their successful proliferation: the future of learning objects is
bright-but only if these and other issues surrounding their development and use are considered
and addressed. Educators both in the public and private sectors share the responsibility to
understand the pros and cons and to explore the appropriate use of learning objects within
respective environments (Yacovelli, S. R., 2003). By needing to facilitate information which
helps to understand the student the teacher is apt to want to create special learning that will
specify what it is the student may need to be at his or her best. Yet there can be misdiagnosed
explanations and possible social or cultural differences not taken into consideration when using
these tools to inquire what that may be. As with any new process there has to be some balance

and investigation into what and how those tools will be used within the classroom, as well as
interventions and assistance from administration and parental guides as well. The use of
technology by educators in the classroom should be considered and evaluated mostly by a need
to and if an when needed, with the help of these combined forces that come together in the
purposeful and useful support of the student learner.

What is the importance of assessment technology in connection with the ISTE standards?
The importance of assessment technology in connections with the ISTE standards seek to
facilitate and inspire creativity in the student learner by promoting, supporting and model
innovative thinking and inventiveness. Also by demonstrating fluency with technological
systems and providing collaboration with parents, community, peers and administration. This
while also providing authentic learning experiences and assessments incorporating contemporary
tools and resources that maximize learning, content and develop skills and knowledge identified
in the standards of ISTE that can ensure a proper balance for the student within a classroom
setting and prepare them for the world outside of it.

While teaching can present many challenges, the idea that there is one way to present a unified
and viable way to promote knowledge and skills that students can lean and process and then
finally implement the information provided. Technology being a part of the new classrooms that
presents itself should have the access to these different ideas, alternative ways and tried and true
ways of education that can assist in providing each student with the capability to experience
education at its best. By having these formative and summative assessments available while
initiating the newer tech tools , not only give way to a better understanding of skills ,knowledge

and communication but also opens up the door to students, teachers and peers to engage on a
combined effort between one another which may enrich the experience and create a solid
foundation for the future.
