This article is current and up to date, still being updated and edited as of 2015. It is relevant to
my research because it talks about the spread of buddhism to the west. It tells how it came
about into Europe and America, and how people practice it in their daily lives in these
areas. The article was written by BDEA , an international buddhist organization which
promotes the teachings and practices of Buddhism. The purpose of this article is to inform
people who want to know about buddhism in the west, or people who want to learn and
practice Buddhism. There is no intended bias in this text since it consists of only facts.

This translation of the Dhammasangani, a section of Abhidhamma, was written recently, but the
actual text itself was written back when Buddhism was discovered and passed on orally. It
is relevant to my research because it gives me a thorough understanding of words of the
Buddha. This text was passed down orally before it could be written down. This probably
means that the teachings were from Siddharth Gautam himself, meaning it is the most
reliable source in existence. The purpose was for the teaching of Buddhist beliefs.

Strayer, Robert W. Ways of the World: A Brief Global History with Sources. Boston, MA:
Bedford/St. Martins, 2011. 208-13. Print.
This textbook is very current being published in 2011. This is fairly recent for a world history
textbook, so the material is probably the most current knowledge and discoveries. These

articles are relevant because they give background of the Buddhist religion, and how it
changed as it spread. This book was written by a professional, and is widely used to teach
the AP curriculum, so it is trustworthy The purpose of this article is to inform the reader
about Buddhism, and what was going on at the time that it was discovered.
