Jigsaw Activity- Domains of Physical


Activity
Students are in groups of 4.
Each student is assigned a domain of Physical
Activity.
They are to read the relevant page in their
textbook and come up with what the domain is,
and three example activities.
They then report back to the rest of the group
so students can collate ideas.
Physical Activity Pyramid
Students are given a Physical Activity Pyramid
Handout.
Teacher goes through slides on Dimensions of
Physical Activity, highlighting the levels of the
Physical Activity Pyramid. Students copy down
information that is inside of the Pyramid into
their handout.

Slides on Frequency, Intensity, Duration.
Students read relevant page on Frequency,
Intensity and Duration. They are to come up
with 3 main points from each segment. They
have 2 minutes to come up with the main
points.
Teacher then randomly selects student to give
their point and writes it on the whiteboard.
This is done for the 3 slides, so that students
have 3 main points for each.

Activity
In pairs, students go through the Benefits of
Physical Activity. They are assigned a benefit
based on Physical, Social and Mental.
Students are to come up with 2 main points
from each benefit, and they are written on the
board for students to copy down into their
workbooks.

Health Risks Group Poster
In groups of 4, students design a poster around
the health risks associated with inactivity.
Students are to research the following Health
Risks;
Type II Diabetes, Obesity, Cardiovascular
diseases, hypertension, high cholesterol levels.
Posters must include:
