Mias Profile
Parents/carers expectations
Mias Parents think her moodiness is part of growing up. They are meeting with the School counsellor
to discuss her issues. They will be referred to the community health centre for anonymity as Mia is not
comfortable taking with anyone in school. She will attend the Youth centre resilience outreach program
to build self-esteem with likeminded students.
Mia will be required to complete a health care plan with community health (10 free sessions) as a
result of mandatory referral for her self-harm issues. Her issues will be also be discussed with the
wellbeing team and will be nominated by her year advisor to participate in the art therapy program.
She is building a good rapport with the SLSO who is attached to her classes which is a good start for
building mutual trust.
Skills, strengths and interests for learning
Mia has begun to show an interest in Drama. She enjoys drawing and listening to music. Mia was
once involved with the local arts centre but has stopped going this year.
Specific
Mia will be enrolled in a tailored wellbeing course where she attend a range
of activities (once a week) throughout the term (meditation, yoga, art therapy
etc)
Mia has a good relationship with her SLSO which we can build on.
Mia has shown interest in drama and will be taking a role in the production
team supported by Mrs Flanagan
Syllabus outcome: EN3-1A: Student communicates effectively for a variety of
audiences and purposes using increasingly challenging topics, ideas, issues
and language forms and features
Measurable
Mia will complete a growth coaching plan and as her attendance is not an
issue we know she wants to be at school. Through her participation the art
program we will get her feedback weekly and progress through to an
exhibition.
Syllabus outcome: EN3-2A: A student composes, edits and presents wellstructured and coherent texts
Achievable
Mia will be supported by SLSO and via her wellbeing coordinator and
program.
Her role in the production team will be showcased in the school newsletter
giving her a higher profile amongst her peers and showing another side to
her personality encouraging new friendships.
