elevation
In this picture it is showing all of the angels that you can elevate the hair while
cutting it. You can elevate the hair at 90 degrees, 180 degrees, 45 degrees, 0
degrees (straight down) etc.

The Apex
In this picture it is showing you where the apex is. The apex is located
At the top of your head, it is the highest point on the head.

Blunt cut
This is the blunt hair cut, this haircut is the
hardest hair cut you could ever do, since you
can never get it 100% straightly cut. This haircut
has the hair all one length, this cut has no elevation
or over direction

The occipital bone Is the small bone located at the
base of the skull, it can easily be felt through the skin
At the back of your head. When a comb is placed
flat against the nape area, the part where the head
curves away from the comb is where the occipital
bone begins.

over directing
This picture is demonstrating how you over direct the hair.
Over directing means taking the hair away from its natural
falling place to go to a guide line. If you over direct the hair
Towards the front, it will create length towards the back of
the head. If you over direct the hair towards the back
Of the head, it creates length towards the front of
The head.

parietal ridge
The parietal ridge is the widest part of the head. It is the
point where the top of the head curves downward to
become the sides of the head. The parietal ridge is roughly
three finger-widths above the top of the ear.

This diagonal haircut uses the Bevel technique. Th
Bevel technique is where you use diagonal lines
by cutting the ends with a slight increase or
decrease in length.

This is an example of a short layered haircut.
This haircut has a stationary guide and doesnt
move, you move the hair towards it. You
graduate the hair up towards the apex of the
head, creating layers in the hair.

Fringe
This is a fringe, it has a travelling guideline.

Undercut
This is the undercut. you section off the hair from the
arch of your eyebrow, all the way back to the apex.
Shaving the parietal ridge, and the back of the head,
leaving the top hair untouched. You can cut the hair
at the top any length you want.

Nape undercut
This haircut is where you shave the
underneath layer of your hair.

Long layers
This is a long layered hair cut. To create the
long layers in the hair, you cut the hair with
elevation at 180 degrees.

side shave
This is the side shave haircut, is a hair cut
along the parietal ridge. You section off a
part of your hair, from your parting, to
where you want the shave to end. It usually ends
just behind the ear.

Choppy
This is the choppy layered haircut. Sections are
cut at different lengths and elevations to create
the choppy look.

V haircut
This haircut is made to create a v in the back
of the hair. The layers in the hair were meant
to take weight off of the hair and make it more
dramatic.
