Thank you for the continued egg carton donations...expectations are mounting!

It has been an exciting, fun-filled week

full of Halloween activities!
Miss Angenent and I wish you
a Happy Halloween!!

this week!!!
Connor turned 4

And
Joe turned 5

Happy Birthday to all!

In Language: We continued with our Jolly Phonics and learned the letter name and
sounds of Rr. The First Years continued in their Jolly Phonics booklets while the
Second Years added labels and/or sentences to their super heroes, Rain Man - who
rains on random robbers! We continued rhyming, clapping syllables, identifying
beginning sounds, blending consonant vowel consonant words and identifying letter
sounds and names.

We also continued our Surprise Bag Show n Share items. Gabby shared her Dora
doll and Sophia W shared her Moon Rock! Thank you ladies!
We continued with Halloween poems and stories.
We had a theme for each of the 5 days.Monday was Skeleton day, Tuesday was
Monster day, Wednesday was Witch day, Thursday was Ghosts and Friday was
CANDY!
Gym: We played Halloween related games. We played Ghost, Monster Tag, Dance
Party, Flying Ghost ( with balloons) and Witch/Cat Octopus.
Religion: We continued to identify and celebrate traces of God in the world
around usespecially on our nature walk. We discussed how celebrations give us joy.
God loves us and wants us to be happy. We also celebrated friendship and
leadership by another Buddy Gathering. We danced to Halloween music and made
bracelets.many made PATTERN bracelets!
Science: The Beautiful Shelf now takes up some of the chalk board ledge too!
We did many fun experiments this week. We re-did the coke and mentos
experiment. Whew. We got a little more lift this time. We had a Monsters tea
Party where the tea bubbled and foamed. We launched ghost rockets using water,
starch and alka-seltzer. We made GAK and dissolved candy in different liquids.
In Art: We had no formal Art this week.
In Music, Drama and Dance: Miss Angenent continues with Musical Lunches and
dance parties. We danced to many childrens Halloween Songs : Dem Bones, Thriller
( animated version for kids!), Monster Mash ( Kids Dance version), Monster
Shuffle, If youre a Kid ( Halloween version)..!
In Mathematics: We continued the 100 days of school.adding fish to our
fishbowl and straws to our collection. We counted by 1,2,5, and 10. We sorted and
patterned as we finish individual sorting assessments.
In Personal and Social Development: We discussed the importance of being a role
model. If I had my eye on you, what would I see? A leader?

We also discussed how our behavior teaches others. If Im rolling around on the
carpet during a lesson, another student would then think that was okay. Yikes!
In Inquiry/Directed Play: Miss Angenent worked with the children to decorate Rr
(with anything and everything RED!) and to create skeletons using chalk and Q-tips.
She made a sensory extravaganza in the water table! Monster Mash at its
