Winter Season begins Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015 About the Comstock Clay Breakers
Nevada wide Program
The Comstock Clay Breakers is a youth
clay target sport shooting team located at the Capitol City Gun Club in Carson City, Nevada. The program is established to provide direction, coaching and support to young athletes in the Truckee Meadows. Our trained coaches provide instruction to our team members, instilling the fundamental elements of shooting a shotgun, including gun safety as well as proper technique to hit a moving target. Youth from the elementary grades through high school are eligible to participate in the safe, educational, and enjoyable clay target sports of Trap, Skeet and Sporting Clays. In previous years our team had been affiliated exclusively with the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP). Recently we have also joined the Nevada Youth Shooting Sports Association and the California Youth Shooting Sports Association. These organizations are designed to instill a set of personal values or character traits for fair play, compassionate understanding, individual responsibility, sportsmanship, self-discipline and personal commitment. We will be attending tournaments hosted by CYSSA and NYSSA in 2016. Young athletes are divided into three basic divisions based upon their grade level at school. The Rookie Division is for students in 5th Grade and under. The Intermediate Division is for 6th8th Graders while the Senior Division is for 9th-12th Grade students. The Intermediate and Senior Divisions are further categorized by their experience levels. In this manner a shooter with four or five years of experiences would not be in direct competition with a shooter with no previous shooting experience. The shooting sports are not gender biased. Young ladies compete against the boys and typically do very, very well against them!
In addition to our program here in
