On 30th October, 2015 Institute of Management Technology, Nagpur conducted the Vigilance
Awareness Week for the very first time. This event was organized by the team CCIZ and was
conducted by Shri Rajiv Jain, an IPS officer, serving as S.P D.C.P Anti-corruption bureau of
Nagpur. The event began with the opening speech by the Director of the Institute followed by the
ceremony of lighting the lamp. The theme of the interactive session was Preventive business as
a tool of good governance. Mr. Rajiv Jain questioned the audience with regard to what they
thought was the importance of removal of corruption in the society. It was mentioned that in
spite of corruption leading to inefficiencies in our cost structure, management as well as
economy, corruption is increasing day by day not only in the government sector but also in the
private sector. He also took into account the views of the audience as to how they thought we
could free our society with the universal evils of corruption. He gave examples of situations
where people have encountered dilemmas while taking a decision where they could not
understand which path to choose the path of corruption or personal benefit for the fulfillment
of something they desired. Mr. Jain proved it with factual figures stating that more than 50% of
corruption is in the sector of health and education, around 26% of people are below the poverty
line and 40% of the total GDP of nation comprises corrupt income. Acts like criminal
misconduct, money laundering and reverse trap has engulfed a major portion of our economy. He
ended by talking about ways how we should reduce our tolerance level for corruption and not be
suppressed by political interference and act as a responsible citizen of our nation. He enlightened
the students by a motivational quote If one is not greedy and is doing good for society then God
is always with him/her.
