Notes on developing a schedule for a evaluation visit:


1. The visiting team may need to request adjustments to the schedule before or during the
visit.
2. As far as possible no major events should be taking place in the school at the time of the
visit. No special events/presentations should be staged for the visitors. Classes/grade
levels should not be out of the school during the visit (e.g. on educational trips). The
objective of the visit is to see routine daily teaching and learning practices in the school.
The pedagogical leadership team members should both be present in the school during
the visit.
3. Visitors will want to be at the school 30 minutes before school starts, rather than arriving
with or after the students. They will usually need to stay after the school day has ended
for the students. If possible the visitors should leave the school by 1600 at the latest as
they have to work in the evening of the first day.
4. Classroom visits: Visitors should not be assigned to visit classes at set times unless there
is a particular reason.
On evaluation visits visitors will try to visit all classrooms but it may not be possible for the
visiting team to meet with all grade level teams or all individuals with special
responsibilities.

5. Farewell to staff: The visiting team will welcome the opportunity to say goodbye and
thanks to the whole staff where a 10 minute meeting slot is possible.
