Objective: Students will enhance their reading levels by reading about leaves. Students

Engage: Introduce the lesson with informing students that we will be learning about
leaves today. !

Let them know that we will be spending sometime outside and working with the leaves
hands on.!

Build Knowledge: Begin by reading aloud with students different stories about fall and
the leaves, maybe sit outside in the fall while doing this so students can see the trees
and leaves throughout the discussion. !

!
Teach about why leaves change color in the fall, etc.!
!

Explore: Take students outside (if not already outside), have each student find a few
leaves that they like.!

Supply students with a notebook or a few sheets of paper and crayons, have them
remain outside and place the leave under a sheet of paper and color on top of it. The
rubbings will take on the shape of the leave and the veins and details of the leaves.!

!
Share: Allow students to share their designs with others.!
!

Wrap-Up: Give presentation/have conversation about the discussion about leaves and
have closing conversation.
