Analysis of Authors Craft on The King James Version of Psalm 27
Judaism, the first known monotheistic religion, originated around 1800 B.C.E. in the
Middle East. The religion primarily focuses on one God and his prophets, beginning with
Abraham. This religion is a popular religion in the world, especially in Israel. An important
aspect of Judaism is the Psalms, a part of the Jewish Bible that demonstrates Jews how to behave
and act to get in Gods favor. Each of the 150 Psalms plays an important role in the teachings of
Judaism. Through the use of repetition, abstract imagery and the theme of Gods undying love
and protection for humans, the author reveals the tone of Psalm 27 in order to enforce the belief
in God.
Repetition of ideas in Psalm 27 accurately enforces the meaning behind each notion. In
this case, the author wants to display the Lord as my light and the strength of my life (Psalm
27:1). By reiterating how the Lord guides people through life, the author accomplishes in
emphasizing how God should have an important impact on someones everyday life.
Additionally, to implement how God comforts someone in a time of hesitation, the text states,
Though a host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise
against me, in this will I be confident (Psalm 27:3). This depicts how just the thought of the
Lord alone will comfort someone in a frightening situation. God will not only comfort someone,
but He will protect and give confidence to someone who needs it to succeed. Therefore, through
the authors repetition of the Lords importance, it is demonstrated how much of an impact God
has on someones life.

Abstract imagery in Psalm 27 assists in enhancing the emotions caused by the psalm. For
example, it states, dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of
the Lord, and to enquire in his temple (Psalm 27:4). This visual could appear differently in
everyones minds, depicting the house of God is what someone visualizes Heaven to be like.
Heaven could be portrayed as an energetic, happy paradise in one persons mind and something
completely different in anothers, however either way, this freedom to picture whatever someone
wants creates emotion in the work. An additional instance of abstract imagery in Psalm 27
attaches a significant meaning to the words that solely the abstractness of the imagery provides.
In Psalm 27, it proclaims, he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall
he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock (Psalm 27:5). This visual could be portrayed literally
or figuratively, with both creating a reassuring connotation that the Lord will protect anyone in a
time of need. Consequently, the authors use of abstract imagery reveals Gods protection for
humans, during the duration of a humans life on Earth and in Heaven.
The theme of Psalm 27 is God will continuously love humans, which is shown by all of
the deeds he has done for our benefit. For instance, the text states, Wait on the Lord: be of good
courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart (Psalm 27:14). This represents that patience and
faith in God will lead to a positive outcome in the end. The Lord will repay dedication with love
and guidance. Additionally, the text proclaims, When my father and my mother forsake me,
then the Lord will take me up (Psalm 27:10). This reveals that even if everyone else was to
desert someone, the Lord will not. God will continue to be with his children throughout the good
and bad times. Both of these examples illustrate the theme of Gods consistent love and
protection that will never end.

Throughout Psalm 27, the authors tone is portrayed through repetition of ideas, abstract
imagery and the theme of Gods undying love and protection for humans. These narrative
elements aid in not only creating a deeper level of emotion, but express the authors tone of awe
and admiration for God. In Judaism, the very first known religion to ever have one God, the Lord
is highly respected and worshipped. By the authors tone throughout the Psalm, it is evident that
the author strongly believes in Gods glory. Through the use of repetition, abstract imagery and
the theme of Gods undying love and protection for humans, the author reveals the tone of the
Psalm in order to enforce the belief in God.
